Cook Simple, Keep Fit

This website is a reaction to the many unrealistic books, infomercials and websites that prey on people believing that there must be a magic bullet to cooking great food, losing weight or staying fit. While few of us have the time, energy or money to prepare those recipes in the cook books written by name-brand chefs, or work out with a personal trainer, the hard fact is that the only thing that works is adapting a healthier lifestyle and not jumping from one trend/fad to another. This practice does more harm than good.

The fact is that you can cook great meals and stay in shape if you keep things simple. By simple, I mean using just a few ingredients in your cooking and keep your fitness program short but regular. The key though, is to choose the foods and activities that you like and which you feel you can stick with for years. Nobody can enjoy the rest of their lives eating only protein, forgoing carbs (I’d rather die than give up pasta...seriously) and similar drastic actions.

My intent of this website is to help show you how to cook meals that will not take much longer than microwaving a salt-and-fat drenched prefab meal from the store or restaurant, as well as encourage you to put some fun and variety into your physical fitness.

Guide to eating well and staying fit

Meals should have just a few ingredients and take little time, ideally less than 30 minutes, to prepare and cook. The spicy shrimp (above) or seared salmon with balsamic & honey glaze with ginger-rice and salad (below) are just a few dishes that fit that bill.
